About Fran

I have been teaching and performing for 20 years. I achieved my Masters degree in Voice Pathology with University College London and I am a graduate of the Vocal Process Integrated Voice Advanced Vocal Practice teacher training programme. I have studied with leading voice related professionals and researchers including: Dr Gillyanne Kayes (author and international voice trainer), Jeremy Fisher (author and international voice trainer), Professor Johan Sundberg (voice scientist, Sweden), Mr John Rubin (consultant laryngologist, RNTNE Hospital, London), Dr Ruth Epstein (Head of SLT and Consultant SLT, RNTNE Hospital, London), Lesley Mathieson (author and Honorary Research Adviser to the Department of SLT, RNTNE Hospital, London), Jacob Lieberman (laryngeal osteopath, London), and Dr Louise Montello (psychoanalyst and music therapist). Until my recent move to Bournemouth I was on the multi-disciplinary voice clinic team at the Royal Devon & Exeter Hospital, was a regular at the South West Specialist Interest Group in Voicecraft meetings, and worked closely with the Exeter, North Devon and Torbay NHS Speech & Language Therapy units. As a vocal health consultant I have spoken on my subject for organisations such as the British Association of Performing Arts Medicine and given master classes in voice and vocal health at many educational institutions.

Fran was an inspiration for my singing and helped me understand the inner workings of my larynx and vocal chords, which in turn helped me to strengthen my voice. We worked on my posture, breathing, amongst other things and managed to record some songs in her studio. She was fantastic fun, but equally professional; not just a teacher, but a friend too, and I couldn’t recommend anybody more highly

My Clients Say...

Here are some lovely comments from my clients. Please click on their images to see their work. Do note, these are just a handful of those I’ve worked with. I’ve worked with all genres and styles, even training Tom Andrews to sing on the Ellen Show and training James Rees to sing the Timmy Time theme tune (see below)!

I had the smallest hope that my voice could be rehabilitated, after years of mis-use. Fran's approach and teaching methods, along with her impeccable knowledge of the voice, has enabled me to reach goals I never thought possible
Fran is always positive, enthusiastic, encouraging and knowledgable. Fran's teaching style has always inspired me with the confidence I needed to deliver my best performance. I hugely enjoy every lesson with her. Whether you need help with technique, performance and delivery tips, confidence and constructive feedback or all of the above, Fran has always been hugely helpful, and clearly draws from a wealth of experience and knowledge
From working on cruise ships and recording studios, to making my own music film and going on tour, Fran has always been there ensuring that my technique is both safe and efficient, as well as forever encouraging me to dig deeper and find the raw emotion in my work
Fran’s energy and enthusiasm is inspiring. She is a superb teacher who gave me the confidence and valuable techniques required to reach my singing potential and keep my voice strong and healthy. Every session with her is engaging and fun
I met Fran when I was a young, aspiring singer, having had little previous experience. Not only did she teach me how to get the most out of my voice through a series of fun exercises and techniques, but she built my confidence immensely and taught me valuable skills that I've carried with me through my artist career so far and will continue to do so. I couldn't recommend Fran highly enough for her genuine dedication, kindness and ongoing support. Very talented and lovely lady
I was nervous about having vocal lessons having not sung for many years but Fran put me at ease immediately with her relaxed and fun style and after only the first lesson I was enjoying singing once again. Her knowledge of vocal technique is extensive and given the practice I felt Fran could take me as far as I wanted to go
